Re-Set and ReJOYce

(From Cover page of Subluxation-Free Press, July 2023

Hi!

These last few weeks for me had a little bit of frustration and just some arrgh stuff.

Life's like that with its ups and downs. Amazing how a tiny leak can turn into a flood!

And although I do tend to stress and over think a bit, I’m also built to remember to look up, snap out of it and reset. I breathe, pray and then with gratitude take stock of my perfectly imperfect life such as it is.

We all have moments when the rim of our life plate glops over the edges. But then, time passes, and a walk (or chocolate!) helps. Putting life into perspective here's what made made these weeks worth celebrating anyway:

I DID find the right connections to take care of the repairs. (Yay Hailey!)

I DO have insurance for times like these.

And then:

I DID see a fawn and momma literally walk out from behind the garden's deer statues!

I DID witness the koi glide and flip up onto the shallow stones. (Is there such a thing as fish catnip?)

I DID make my mom laugh this week!

I DID check some amazing littles who got adjusted, who finally SLEPT and POOPED, giving their parents more education and hope.

I DID get to serve hundreds of adjustments this month to amazing practice members. The new ones, adjusted for the very first time, and my wellness members, some with me for decades.(whoosh!)

I DID get to wake up again, have a roof over my head, food in the fridge,,

You get it.

Our perfectly imperfect world can indeed weigh us down if we let it. But big picture: we can choose better. I CHOOSE to sing, to lift others, to smile at a stranger. I choose to see and appreciate the good. And I’m still learning. I'm taking classes to further improve my skills as I serve and remain passionate about vitalism. That there's a wisdom that animates our lives so we can adapt with more ease and self heal. I love being a Chiropractor and helping people to understand this concept.

So stuff happens, but then it passes.

Choose to let go and live in gratitude. When life happens, remember to Reset and ReJOYce! Of course getting adjusted regularly too helps us better handle all the stressors life surprises us with.

Maybe it's time for you to have a reset, to make your own gratitude list, and choose to take the best care of yourself you can. If it's been awhile since you've made an appointment to come in, call us. I get it, life gets busy! No worries; you'll always be greeted with a warm smile over the phone.

We look forward to seeing you and your family and we've got a beautiful spot reserved for you by the waterfall. Living subluxation-free is a great place to be and our healing space is truly a space of grace to come home to.

Summer's here: think reset tune-up, before and after your vacation!

So glad for our freedoms. Grateful to celebrate our liberties to choose natural and healthy options.

Happy 4th of July!

See you on the tables

Tech Neck: How and Why You Need to Check Your Anterior Head Carriage

I have spoken and taught frequently about anterior head carriage, aka tech neck, a sign of the changing times with the ever increasing use of screen time. Historically more prevalent in elderly populations as they lean forward to accommodate for hearing loss and visual decline, it’s now showing up earlier in all ages, especially in young children and teens thanks to mobile devices. Now, thanks to 2020, add in the additional changes of excessive work and school laptop use, online learning, and Zoom meetings.

Postural misalignments like tech neck are actually changing the way people think and process. At a symposium I attended several years ago, a split screen depicted two images, one of a typical teen posture and the other an older gentlemen known to have Parkinson’s disease. The similarities were eerie. There is a strong understanding that states “structure determines function” and viewing this all too common image in today’s world should be a wake up call to sit up straight and tall as our moms often reminded us, lest we start losing good health from the moment of our first Nintendo and cellphone.

The correct alignment of the spine allows for protection and unimpeded flow of the nerves for all brain processing.

Take this simple test then, please, try it with your children. Stand up straight and comfortably in your normal stance. Have someone observe you from the side view. The front of the ear (Tragus) to mid shoulder, hip, and ankle bone should appear in alignment.

As the head weighs approximately 10-12lbs, any carriage forward of that ear/shoulder lineup alters nerve flow at the brain stem, tenses shoulder muscles to work harder, and transfers additional stress and tension to the low back, ultimately distorting ease and flexibility and function.

Doctor means teacher. I am passionate about sharing the importance of living vibrantly with a clear unimpeded nerve system pathway, especially in these unique times. Spring Renewal and Blue Envelopes

Last days of March and here we are! I have many signs of spring now, and the birds are carrying on in the office gardens. Didn’t realize that a woodpecker could be so very busy. Besides for just the tapping, our friends have made a huge hole in the dead maple that still stands watch over the Koi pond.

Patients young and old delight in the changing garden views each and every visit, as it is renewed.

This is a reminder that every day, you too, are renewed. The systems of your body from your head to your toes is ever changing and adapting. Skin sloughs off as we bathe or it peels as we recover from too much sun. Digestion and elimination functions are never off duty. You are a marvel of amazing and adaptive cycles.

Each adjustment provides a re-balance to your systems that stress may have altered, and resets you as it reconnects your brain-body cycle of LIFE. We have an oldie but a goodie saying, the Chiropractic is not about your back, or your pain, it’s about your Life. Absolutely!

So, as clearly as Spring has sprung, keep aware of the renewing your body is doing every single moment.

It is my privilege and passion to provide care and education as we journey together toward the best you can be! New patients appointments are daily, so if you have a friend or loved one that would like more information, they can call or click or tap to schedule an appointment. Also added to our community education effort is a lovely basket of blue envelopes for you to share. So easy to pass along this welcome letter and intake form and let your favorite folks know we are here for them.

See you on the tables in front of our gardens!

Have a blessed day,

Dr. Nalyn

PLANT A SEED. PLANT HOPE FOR OTHERS!

PLANT A SEED.
PLANT HOPE. 🌱
I don’t do a lot of number crunching, I just know I love to serve and that I am called to assist in changing people’s lives for the better as a Chiropractor. But I’ve noticed the steady change over the years in how people find me and begin care. Statistics have always shown me that word of mouth, personal referrals is the chief way folks find us, and a distant 2nd WAS social media reviews and testimonials.

Now they’re almost tied.

When we ask a new patient who to thank, a personal recommendation is still the most common. But often now too, it’s what they’ve read about us. Whether spoken or written, sharing your words of how your life has improved with a healthier nerve supply touches the life of someone seeking answers. Your words plant a seed that can change a life!
You most likely found our office this way too. Think about it: how many lives could be impacted by sharing your story? If you tell a friend, it affects one person. But when people search the web, it has the capacity to reach many more, be seen and even felt. And that’s not a small thing!
I invite you to plant your seed by sharing your Chiropractic story. Your words may alter the course of someone in need: a man, a mom, a teen, a baby, a senior, or someone who’s lost hope. Plant hope.

Maybe you’d like to help others by posting a positive Google review for us? Here's an easy link http://tinyurl.com/y5som4sz
thanks!
