Waves - The Rhythm of Life

"Show me a deep breath…"

I ask you to breathe in whenever you’re on the table. Why? Because your breathing tells me so much about your spine and nerve system!

(Deep gratitude to my teacher, mentor, and dear friend, the late Dr. Arno Burnier, who helped me truly understand the wisdom in observing breath during my spinal analysis.)

______

Our bodies — and the world around us — run on cycles and waves.

The tides, the seasons, the powerful waves of labor during childbirth. The laughter that shakes us with joy. The shiver that ripples down the spine in fear.

Our hearts beat, our brains fire, our blood flows, our lungs breathe — all in rhythms and wave patterns. Even in our final moments, life releases from the body in waves.

Your breath cycle is a powerful indicator of health.

At the start of your adjustment, I observe your breathing — noticing where you’re holding tension caused by subluxations. Add that to leg checks and palpation, and it paints a picture - one that will soon change!

After the adjustment, you often breathe differently — fuller, easier — and it’s visible. Parents and partners see it too: the wave of better breathing means more of you is flowing and more alive.

It’s not me “fixing” you — I remove the interference; you restore yourself. Your breath change is part of the story. I love seeing this change in you; it never gets old.

A body clear of subluxations can draw a fuller breath — chest to hips, ribs to belly.

Next time you’re here, remember: part of what’s occurring in a well-adjusted spine is the re-synching to better function and natural rhythms. The rhythm of life!

Hope this was helpful —

I'll see you on the tables!
