The Scrolling Road

Lately, I’ve been noticing that everywhere I go, I see —heads down, eyes on screens.

At the dinner table, on the beach, walking the dog, in the drive-thru line, while getting a pedicure.

And although cell phones have made life more convenient, somewhere along the way, we’ve started missing what’s right in front of us.

We scroll to pass the time, swipe to feel connected, tap to buy, tap again to escape. And, poof.. true present time consciousness is so easily lost.

Recently at Disney World, even with all the wondrous designs created for a magical experience, you need a cell phone — to check in, unlock your hotel room, order food, to get alerts for the next hot attraction. Heads were down everywhere on a family vacation meant to create amazing memories.

Apps do make things efficient, but it also makes me wonder… have we forgotten how to 'just be'?

And kids? They’re getting phones younger and younger. Yes, we can set boundaries, but the pressure to stay plugged in is real—for all of us.

So what does this have to do with chiropractic?

Your brain body connection functions BEST when it's open and flowing, unimpeded. Poor posture leads to nerve system stress, a shift in the neck bones and pressure on the nerves. Health shifts downward after years of spinal stress. What can you do amplify life expression and nerve flow?

Look up! Just look up. Physically lifting your head to a balanced stance brings so many benefits: it opens up your posture, activates brain pathways, reduces neck and shoulder strain, and lets your nervous system breathe a little easier. Less screen time can even lead to better sleep—remember falling asleep with a book or a puzzle instead of a glow?

Looking up also helps us look around. Take in nature as you walk the dog. Be aware of your surroundings and notice what you're missing. Say hello to the person next to you. Strike up a casual conversation while waiting in line. Real connection is still out there—we just have to make space for it.

I invite you to be more present as June begins. Look up and look around. Take a breath. Take in life in right in front of you. And give your eyes and head a rest from the scrolling world to explore the world around you.

Subluxations don’t always come from trauma. Sometimes, they come from habits. More on this below.

See you on the tables! Here's to looking at you soon!+
