The Wonders of Three

March is the third month of the calendar year, and so I began to ponder on the number three, and how it is everywhere; in time, history, in culture, music and science (and shamrocks!).

How many grouping of three can you immediately think of? Here’s a start:

  • Body Mind and Spirit,

  • Small, Medium, Large

  • Past, Present, Future

  • Earth, Wind & Fire!

Triangles with three sides show up visually everyday: As hazard signs, and in scouting, the trefoil symbol, even on our money. A three-legged stool is a balanced tripod. Stories have a beginning, middle, and end. In music, three notes—root, third, and fifth—form a full chord sound that's so pleasing. Around the world, most theological concepts are expressed in groupings of three.

Plants move from seed, to growth, to fruit. It seems nature love its threes.

Three is not accidental. It is structural.

In Chiropractic, we recognize this pattern every day.

Our body deals daily with three main forms of stress and when we can't adapt or have too many at once, these can lead to subluxations. Not new, but here's a sampling that may look familiar:

Physical stress — slips, falls, poor posture, repetitive motion, long hours at a desk, old injuries that never quite resolved.

Chemical stress — processed foods, medications, environmental toxins, dehydration, inflammation.

Emotional stress— worry, deadlines, conflict, uncertainty, life changes.

When physical stress accumulates, proper spinal tone is affected.

When chemical stress builds, tissues become irritated and inflamed.

When emotional stress lingers, muscles tighten and energy shifts.

The spine sits at the crossroads of it all.

Your nervous system coordinates how you adapt, and when you can't, interference wreaks havoc and your ease shifts to dis-ease.

That’s where coming in for care, for a specific personalized adjustment gets you back on track.

Oh, and I saved one last wonderful three for last. We call it the The Triune of Life: Art, Science, and Philosophy.

In a nutshell, it's the skill of adjusting, the research that supports it AND the understanding that your body always has an innate wisdom, striving to self heal and adapt. Every living thing has an innate ability to adapt and so, all ages and stages can benefit from a clear nerve system 24/7/365.

This principle is the 'big idea': the how and why I practice the way I do.

It's as easy as 1-2-3..

So it's March, the 3rd month! I'll leave you with 3 last points to ponder:

1.Are you caring for your body physically?

2.Are you minimizing harmful chemicals?

3.Are you tending to your emotional well-being?

Your spine's doing all it can, and I'm here for your tune up and alignment, because..

Spring is just 3 weeks away!

See you on the Tables!
