Laptop time on the back porch as the last days of May slip away. What a weather ride it's been—heat waves, downpours, lightning, and blue skies, sometimes all in the same week!
Patients arrived for adjustments in everything from flip-flops to turtlenecks.
Through it all, the garden did not disappoint. The purple irises were spectacular this year, and thankfully not high on the deer menu. With the sliding door open, the waterfall provides a soothing soundtrack - nature outside helps the healing within.
Recently, at a networking breakfast, I spoke about the power of a good introduction. We role-played two ways of describing the same business. One focused on what a person does. The other focused on their why. Which conversation would you continue?
A: "I am a commercial realtor."
Or...
B: "I help people sleep better at night."
The second one sparks curiosity. It invites connection.
That got me thinking about my own "Why." And may give you something to consider about your own reasons for receiving care when sharing your Why with others.
Explaining the Why of Chiropractic is both easy and hard.
Easy, because once people understand that the brain and body communicate through the nerve system, that the body is designed to heal and adapt, and that the purpose of the adjustment is to remove interference so that connection can work better, they usually say, "That makes sense!"
The hard part is that many people still think Chiropractic is all about pain relief. Some come because a friend recommended us or because they read our reviews. Others may never call because they haven't heard the message in a way that resonates with their own life.
If you tell someone Chiropractic care "got rid of my back pain," they may hear that one result, but when you share, "I sleep better," "I have less stress," "My baby isn't as fussy," "Walking is easier," or "I finished a huge project and woke up feeling great," you're sharing your Why.
Those are the stories that help others understand the bigger picture. Chiropractic isn't simply about feeling better. It's about functioning better, adapting better, and expressing more of your life.
One of the great mentors, Dr. Joe Donofrio, had a simple message he stamped on all his outgoing mail:
Chiropractic.
It's not about your back.
It's not about your pain.
It's about your LIFE!
My Why is simple: to help you express your best life by reducing interference in your nerve system so you can better adapt to whatever life brings.
It has been my joy and privilege to live that purpose.
One final question: What's your Why? Why do you choose regular chiropractic care?
Whatever your reason, I know that each adjustment helps you become a better expression of life and living. Think about sharing your best WHY with others so they can then know what you know!
And if you notice a change, don't forget to ring the Better Bell on your way out!
P.S. Happy Birthday, Benjamin! June 1st will always be one of my favorite days, you're my Why for being ChiroMom.
See you on the Tables!
